BELL SIGHTING: MPG Turns Down Idea of a Grown-UP SBTB
Mark-Paul was at the 2010 Entertainment Weekly and Women in Film Pre-Emmy Party on August 27, 2010 in West Hollywood, CA. Here's what he had to say to the Vulture Reporters:
"Every female reporter, publicist, and actress at EW freezes. Mark-Paul Gosselaar is walking the carpet. He says the only people who scream, “Zack Morris!” to him anymore are “drunk college girls.” He disappoints us by shooting down our idea for a grown-up version of Saved by the Bell."I’d probably never do it,” he says. “One of the things that made that show so successful was that it never took itself too seriously. The campiness of it all would be lost now that we’re old and evolved.”

BELL DREAMS: Katy Perry's Dream is to Meet Mark-Paul!
Katy Perry says it’s her “dream” to meet Mark-Paul Gosselaar.
The California Gurls hitmaker — who’s set to marry British comedian Russell Brand later this year — idolized the actor, who played Zack Morris on Saved by the Bell, when she was a teenager.
“Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell was a definite crush and still is,” Katy said.
“He is really hot. It’s my dream to meet him some day.”
Katy recently revealed that she once told a bunch of her friends she’d like to shag John Mayer — and he overheard!
“I once said I would shag John Mayer and he heard, and he told me he heard,” she said.
“I think we were at an awards show or something. So I ran away screaming!”

TheGloss.com: 10 Fashion Lessons I Learned from 'Saved by the Bell'
A great read about the fashion on BELL featured on The Gloss Blog. They got the years wrong. The show actually aired during the early 90's. (Yes, it began in 1989.) But we'll forgive them because they took the time to remember our favorite show and feature it in a good way. Enjoy!
Saved By the Bell was the formative show of my youth. It had everything: cute boys, occasional visits from pop stars or the president of NBC, and fashion. It also happened to take place during a magical time known as the ’80s. Here are some important lessons that my elementary-school self learned (and then eventually had to unlearn) from this great show.

Including your strapless bra.

The Evolution of TV Show Hangouts: The Max
Credit: Judy Berman
TV programming for teenagers has changed a lot over the years, as anyone who has watched both The Brady Bunch and Skins can attest. But there have been a few constants: a central clique, parent-child disputes, and the archetypal teenage hangout. While, originally, these mostly took the form of wholesome diners, they eventually evolved to include nightclubs and music venues… and have recently shown signs of morphing into something even more sinister. Journey with us, if you will, through over 35 years of teen TV hangout spots, from Happy Days to Gossip Girl.
The Max, Saved By the Bell (1989-1993)
Ah, The Max: bright colors, geometric shapes, that tiny booth that somehow fit the entire SBTB gang — and, of course, Max, the place’s magician proprietor. Bayside’s favorite burger joint hosted everything from study dates to musical performances. It also employed Kelly.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar talks 'Rizzoli & Isles,' 'Franklin & Bash,' and his racy guest spot on 'Weeds'
Mark-Paul Gosselaar in the new TNT sitcom Franklin and Bash premiering this fall.
By: Sandra Gonzalez
When I got on the phone with Mark-Paul Gosselaar to talk about his guest spot on Rizzoli & Isles (airing tonight), I never thought I’d end up in a PG-13, blush-inducing conversation with Zack freaking Morris. Call me lucky. But aside from briefly speaking about his tendency to get cast in roles that require him to strip down (for the record, he calls himself “a willing participant”), we covered a lot of ground in our limited time.
Here’s what we learned:
Rizzoli & Isles [Spoilers for tonight's episode]
Rizzoli & Isles [Spoilers for tonight's episode]
+ His character had a romantic history with Maura in college. They meet again after his brother dies.
+ His character enjoys swimming, and he’s confronted by Rizzoli and Isles during one of his swims. Win.
+ “They have a great set. Sasha and Angie are just fun girls.”

Franklin & Bash
+ The relationship he shares with co-star Breckin Meyer was modeled ever-so-slightly after buddy comedies like Superbad.
+ “There’s a great energy coming off of it. People are excited. I feel like we knocked the pilot out of the park.”
+ “I don’t want to say it’s like Boston Legal, but it is very quick-witted.”
+ Confirms his scene of comedic nudity in the pilot.
+ “We have a hard time being serious. There’s a real lightness to it.”

Weeds [Tiny spoilers, ahoy!]
+ He will be on for one episode.
+ He “gets it on” with Nancy.
+ It’s so risqué, “I’ll be interested to see what people say.”

Obligatory question about the oil spill episode of Saved by the Bell
+ Yes, he remembered the duck’s name was Becky. He credits an EW writer for his vast knowledge, saying the episode was brought up in conversation last time he was here.

On last Thursday's episode of the new season of the Jersey Shore on MTV, Ronnie referenced BELL saying "This is not Saved by the Bell. We are not Zack and Kelly", while "pondering" and discussing his on and off again relationship with Sami, (another cast member on the Jersey Shore), with the camera. Why is this news? It was big on the Twitter discussion forum and I thought I'd share. :)

BELL Archive: People, 1992 "Saturday's Star: Saved by the Bell's Mario Lopez Keeps Teen Viewers in Weekend Detention"
THERE ARE SCENES FROM A MALL AND then there are scenes from a mall—like what happened when teen throb Mario Lopez, 19, of NBC's Saturday-morning sitcom Saved by the Bell, ambled in for a promotional appearance in San Antonio and female fans began pelting him with bras and panties. "You'd think they'd all be teenagers, but their moms were throwing stuff too," recalls Lopez. "I didn't think anybody watched the show."
Wrong. Bell was the top-rated Saturday-morning series among teens last year, and its performance has prompted a Nov. 27 prime-time special, Saved by the Bell—Hawaiian Style. If Lopez's admirers somehow fail to catch him there, they get another chance on Name Your Adventure, the travel-oriented show he hosts on Saturdays right after Bell. Certainly they would love to be in the running shoes of Elizabeth Berkley, Mario's love interest on Bell. Yes, even she thinks her 5'11", 175-lb. costar is a hunk. "But he's so personable that it's not hard to get past the way he looks," she says.
Bell's executive producer, Peter Engel, seconds that, acknowledging that the role of high school superjock Albert Clifford Slater had not been written with a Hispanic in mind. "But he had that character's confidence and smile," says Engle, "so we said, 'What's the difference?' "
It's Adventure, though, that gets Lopez really revved up. "It's the ultimate job," he says of his role on the show, which allows him to accompany kids on their fantasy adventures, like swimming with dolphins. Toughest episode: attending a Utah survival school, where he slept under leaves and ate roasted grasshoppers. "It was torture," he says, "but it was cool."
Cool would be Mario's theme. "I have the coolest parents," he says of Mario Sr., who drives heavy equipment for the municipality of National City, near San Diego, and Elvia, a former telephone company staff clerk who now helps Mario manage his career. (The Mexican-born Lopezes also have a 16-year-old daughter, Marisa.) A dancer since he was a tot, Mario, at 12, was spotted by a talent agent and cast in Norman Lear's short-lived 1984 sitcom a.k.a. Pablo. Even while playing in that and landing small movie parts (Colors), he was able to continue at San Diego's Chula Vista High, where he was an A student and a champion wrestler.
Lopez still lives at home, in a jukebox-equipped guesthouse behind his parents' residence. But when work calls, he jumps into his red '66 Mustang convertible and heads for Burbank, where he keeps an apartment. He stays buffed by dancing, playing racquetball and doing push-ups.
There's not one special girl in his life right now. "I'm looking for that perfect woman," says Mario, "but it's hard because I want someone who'll like me for me—not just the guy she sees on TV." Lopez definitely has his own sights set beyond the tube. "I'd like to get into film," says Lopez. "I'd love to have a talk show like Arsenio. I'd like to go to the Olympics [to wrestle]...but I want to go to college too." He pauses under the weight of it all. "OK, I've got it! I want to go to college to study film to learn how to direct after I've gone to the Olympics!... Maybe I better just play it by ear." Sounds cool.

Jessica Biel Wants to Be Kelly Kapowski?
Actress Jessica Biel has said that she wants to star in a big screen remake of Saved By The Bell.
The 28-year-old actress wants Hollywood honchos to recreate the teen TV drama as a blockbuster film.
"I want to be Kelly Kapowski, I’m putting it out there," News Of The World quoted Biel as saying.
Meanwhile Biel will also be starring in romantic comedy Nailed due to release in 2010.
What do YOU think? Would Jessica play the role of Kelly Kapowski well? We have to give her credit for her support in a movie. But, would a movie be successful without the original actors? Comment below!
